Army Day

Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every time in India, in recognition of Field Marshal KodanderaM. Cariappa’s taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.

The day is celebrated in the form of processions and other service shows in the public capital of New Delhi as well as in all headquarters. On 15 January 2021, India celebrated its 73rd Indian Army Day in New Delhi. Army Day marks a day to laud the gallant dog faces who offered their lives to cover the country and its citizens.

While fests take place across the country, the main Army Day cortege is conducted in Cariappa Parade ground in Delhi cantonment. Gallantry awards and Sena orders are also awarded on this day.

In 2020, 15 dog faces were presented with frippery awards. ParamVir Chakra and AshokChakr awardees share in this Day cortege every year. Military tackle, multitudinous contingents, and a combat display are part of the cortege.

In 2020, Captain Tania Shergill came as the first womanish officer to command an Army Day cortege. This Day is a grand festivity of India’s service might and its obscure help. The Army Day cortege is generally held at Parade Ground, Delhi Cantonment.

15 January History

India attained independence on August 15, 1947, after the slavery of British rule nearly 200 times. At the time of Indian independence, the country was passing collaborative screams and deportees were coming from Pakistan and some people were migrating towards Pakistan.

Due to this type of lawless atmosphere, numerous executive problems started arising when the army had to come forward to control the situation so that peace can be assured during the partition.
At the time of Indian independence, the command of the Indian army was in the hands of British General Sir Francis Butcher. 

So this was the right time to hand over the full control of the country to the hands of the Indians; hence Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa came the first Indian Army Chief of Independent India on 15 January 1949.
Since this occasion was veritably remarkable for the Indian Army, it was decided to celebrate this grand day every time in India This Day and since also this tradition has been continuing.
Hence the transfer of power of the army in the hands of an Indian citizen on 15 January is marked in the country.

It’s famed every time at all the Army Command headquarters and public capital by organizing army processions including numerous other service shows.
On this day, the salutation is given to all those stalwart fighters who have given up everything to cover the motherland and maintain the integrity of the nation.

the cortege is organized every time at the Cariappa Parade Ground of Delhi Cantonment. Its salutation is taken by the Indian Army Chief. In the time 2018, the 70th Army Day was celebrated, in which Parade’s salutation was taken by General Bipin Rawat and in 2019 it’ll be taken by General M.M Narewan.
