1 July: National Doctors Day History

In India, National Croakers ’ Day was first observed on 01 July 1991 in the honor of. Bidhan Chandra Roy, to pay homage to his benefactions in the health sphere. 1 July happens to be his death and birth anniversary which coincides on the same date.

Bidhan Chandra Roy( 1 July 1882- 01 July 1962) was a famed croaker, an educator, a freedom fighter, a social worker, and a politician. He also served West Bengal 14 times as a chief minister( 1948 – 1962). He was awarded the loftiest Indian mercenary award, THE BHARAT RATNA on 04 February 1961.

He contributed his life to the people, treated them numerous, and inspired millions. likewise, he was also the Mahatma Gandhis ’ particular croaker.

The first Croakers ’ Day observance was on March 28, 1933, in Winder, Georgia. This first observance included the mailing of cards to the croakers and their women, flowers placed on graves of departed croakers, including Dr. Long, and a formal regale in the home of Dr. and. William. Randolph.

 After the Barrow County Alliance espoused Mr. Almond’s resolution to pay homage to the croakers, the plan was presented to the Georgia State Medical Alliance in 1933 by Mrs.E.R. Harris of Winder, chairman of the Barrow County Alliance. On May 10, 1934, the resolution was espoused at the periodic state meeting in Augusta, Georgia.

The resolution was introduced to the Women’s Alliance of the Southern Medical Association at its 29th periodic meeting held in inSt. Louis, Missouri, November 19 – 22, 1935, by the Alliance chairman, Mrs.J. Bonar White. Also, Croakers’ Day has come an integral part of and synonymous with, the Southern Medical Association Alliance.

The United States Senate and House of Representatives passedS.J. RES.# 366 during the 101st United States Congress, which President Bush inked on October 30, 1990, designating Croakers’ Day as a public vacation to be celebrated on March 30.

Marion Mass along with. Kimberly Jackson and. Christina Lang applied to officially have croakers day changed to croakers week. This was accepted in March 2017. In 2017 Physicians Working Together patronized a series of papers in the festivity of National Physicians week that were hosted on KevinMD.
