International Youth Day
International Youth Day on 12 August focuses on the difficulties that some youth are experiencing around the world. Half of the children aged six to 13 lack basic reading and math skills and childhood poverty is still a prevalent problem globally.

History

On December 17, 1999, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth, and the International Day of Youth was established.
