Sadbhavna Diwas is celebrated in India every year on ‘20 August‘. It is also known as ‘Samarsata Diwas’ and ‘Rajiv Gandhi Renewable Energy Day’. This important day is celebrated in the memory of the late former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi.

The only mission of the Rajiv Gandhi government was to have good feelings for others. To promote community harmony, national unity, peace, love, and attachment among all the religions of India, this day is celebrated every year on ’20 August’ by the Congress party by cutting a cake.

Sadbhavana Diwas 20 August 2021, marks the 77th birth anniversary of India’s Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. This day is observed as’ Sadbhavana Diwas’ or Harmony Day’ with an ideal to encourage public integration, peace, affection, and collaborative harmony among the Indian people of all persuasions.

Sadbhavana’ in the English language means goodwill and bonafide. Being the youthful Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi’s study process was ultramodern and different from others.
Rajiv Gandhi had the vision of an advanced nation via numerous public as well as transnational systems that he innovated. The main theme of Sadbhavana Diwas is to promote public integration and collaborative harmony among people of all persuasions and languages.

About Rajiv Gandhi

He was the youthful Prime Minister of the country. He came Prime Minister at the age of 40. India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru was his forefather. Indira Gandhi was his mama who was the Prime Minister of India. After the assassination of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi came the Prime Minister. He’d served from 1984- 89.

He contributed greatly to the development of the country. He blazoned a National Policy on Education in 1986 to modernize and expand advanced education programs across India.

He innovated a central government-grounded institution videlicet Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya System in 1986 for the upliftment of the pastoral section of the society furnishing them free domestic education from 6th till 12 class.

Due to his sweats, MTNL was established in 1986 and also created public call services( PCOs) for spreading telephones in pastoral areas.

In post-1990, he introduced measures for reducing Licence Raj allowing businesses and individualities to buy capital, consumer goods, and import without regulatory restrictions. He introduced the age of voting rights to 18 and also included Panchayati Raj.

He explosively encouraged youth power and said that the development of the country depends only on the mindfulness of the youth of the country. That is why Jawahar Rozgar Yojana started to give jobs to the youth.

Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award

In 1992, the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana award was introduced by the All India Congress Committee of the Indian National Congress in memory of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Every time this award is given to those who have devoted their lives to understanding and promoting social harmony. This award constitutes a citation and cash Prize of Rs 10 Lakh.
