Hindi Diwas: Know About This Special Day History

Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on the 14th of September. On 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly decided that Hindi would be the official language of the Central Government. Because the Hindi language was spoken mostly in most areas in India, therefore it was decided to make Hindi the official language and the importance of this decision was recognized.

Hindi Diwas History

In the time 1918, Gandhiji had asked to make Hindi the sanctioned language in the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan. It was also called the language of the public by Gandhiji. In the time 1949, later much deliberation on the question of the sanctioned language of independent India, on 14 September 1949, this decision was taken, which was part of the Indian Constitution’s Composition 343( Chapter 17). is described as follows.

The sanctioned language of the Union will be Hindi and the script Devanagari. The form of numbers to be used for the sanctioned purposes of the Union shall be the transnational form.
